GeoVerra will be hosting weekly hiring events in June 2021 to fill eight (8) Construction Survey Crew Chief roles in Nanaimo, B.C. flying in and out of Kitimat, B.C.. We are seeking junior to senior experienced applicants to attend interviews with our British Columbia Field Crew Coordinator and hiring team. We have organized an accelerated hiring process to ensure mobilization and training to site is effortless for candidates. Our goal is to have these positions filled immediately for our gradual work ramp up between now and August 2021.

Key Position Details
Full time, flexible benefits program, RRSP match, wellness days, and paid vacation time
2 weeks on and 1 week off rotation
10-hour day and night shifts (night shifts receive premiums)
Travel to and from Kitimat site and accommodation included
Paid training for all safety tickets required
Manage and perform field survey work with the help of Survey Assistants;
Liaise with Project Managers to coordinate field survey work, to review and manage project budgets, timeline requirements, priorities and survey methodology;
Act as a company representative, liaising directly with client field representatives and land owners;
Prepare and communicate field notes, sketches, checklists and digital data in required formats for Project Managers, Land Surveyors and Drafting personnel;
Provide guidance and mentorship to Survey Assistants working with you;
Contribute to the development and implementation of industry best practices, more efficient field processes and procedures and the innovative use of new technology;
Actively participate in and proactively support the advancement of the GeoVerra safety program;
Some office technical survey work may be required in this position; and
Other duties as assigned/required.
Required Skills, Experience, & Behaviours
Our successful candidate will be a graduate of a recognized post-secondary program related to surveying and geomatics or have an equivalent amount of related experience;
Minimum 1 year of experience in a Construction Survey Crew Chief role;
Strong working knowledge of survey equipment and software such as GPS and Total Stations (Including Robotic);
Knowledge and experience of Trimble equipment and software, laser scanning and line locating would be considered an asset;
Strong problem solving skills in a field environment;
Effective communication skills - verbal and written; ability to produce accurate and legible field notes;
The ability to develop and motivate survey staff and work well in a team environment;
An aptitude for delivering projects on time and budget;
A valid driver’s license and can provide a clean driver’s abstract; and
Pre Employment Drug and Alcohol Testing;

Out of town work and frequent travel required;
Ability to carry, lift and push 50lbs+ on a regular basis;
Ability to work outside in all weather conditions;
