About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Directional Driller to join our growing Netdrill/TDOT Civil team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating horizontal directional drilling (HDD) equipment to install underground utilities safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications.
Responsibilities
- Operate directional drilling equipment for the installation of underground conduit, duct, and utility infrastructure.
- Read and interpret utility locates, project drawings, and construction plans.
- Conduct pre-job equipment inspections and perform routine maintenance.
- Ensure safe drilling practices while avoiding existing underground utilities.
- Coordinate with locators, operators, and site supervisors to complete projects on schedule.
- Maintain accurate drilling logs and project documentation.
- Follow all company safety policies and applicable regulations.
- Assist with other civil construction activities as required.
Qualifications
- Previous experience operating horizontal directional drilling equipment.
- Knowledge of underground utility installation and locating practices.
- Ability to read construction drawings and utility plans.
- Strong understanding of safe excavation and drilling procedures.
- Valid G Driver's Licence (DZ licence is considered an asset).
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and ability to work as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working on telecommunications or utility infrastructure projects.
- Experience with vacuum excavation and utility locating.
- First Aid/CPR, Working at Heights, and other construction safety certifications are considered assets.
