SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
OCC and Flight Following:
- Coordinate with Chief Pilot to ensure safe practices are being followed and Transport Canada’s flight requirements are being adhered to
- Coordinate with the Pilot-in-Command to ensure the flight is conducted safely, efficiently and in accordance with all Canadian regulations, company policies, and procedures
- Coordinate with the Operations team to ensure optimal flight routing, schedule amendments, and ongoing mission management
- Responsible for flight watch over all company flights
- Specialize in mission familiarity and provide guidance to flight crew to maintain efficiencies targets
- Participate in monthly mission flight and data analysis to identify points of improvement
- Collect weather and runway conditions for Flight Crew and Flight Operations management, reporting changes as required; monitor and relay as requested or when significant changes occur
- Coordinate Irregular Operations (IROPS) actions, including delaying or canceling flights, crew coordination, FBO requirements, etc. and communicate both internally and externally
- Carry out Flight Follower/OCC responsibilities in the Emergency Response Program
- Operation and troubleshooting of company data collection equipment during aerial work flights
- Quality assurance on operational data logging
- Participate in the photographic inspection program during aerial survey projects
Scheduler:
- Responsible for the day-to-day mission scheduling
- Daily monitoring of mission progress
- Coordinate with scheduler lead and Ops Manager to ensure safe practices are being followed and Transport Canada’s flight requirements are being adhered to
- Coordinate with maintenance personnel for plane serviceability scheduling
- Coordinate with the Pilot-in-Command to ensure the flight is conducted in accordance with all company policies and procedures
- Coordinate Irregular Operations (IROPS) actions, including delaying or cancelling flights, crew coordination, FBO requirements, etc. and communicate both internally and externally
- Any other duties and/or tasks as assigned by the Manager – OCC and/or designate.
- Assist in administrative tasks delegated by the Operations Manager
- Any other duties and/or tasks as assigned by the Manager
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Aviation operations and weather knowledge, must be able to read and interpret aviation weather reports
- Flexible schedule, most shifts are needed in the first 2 weeks of the month
- Must be able to demonstrate strong problem solving skills
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal, must be able to work in a team and independently
- Ability to work unsupervised during on-call, shift work, overnights, weekends, and long hours
- Ability to work under pressure and demonstrate strong organizational skills
- Must be self-motivated
- Advanced skills in Excel or Google Spreadsheets, Microsoft Word or equivalent
- Effective time management and multitasking
- Analytical and organized, with excellent attention to detail
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Strong computer skills and knowledge are a key asset
- Transport Canada PPL or CPL licenses are an asset
- Scheduling experience is an asset
- Hands-on skills are an asset
- Mechanical skills are an asset
- Experience in building and maintaining computers is an asset
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
- Work both day and night Flight Following shifts
- Working in an integrated team, coordinating with pilots, maintenance, and operations staff
- 8-12 hour work shifts
- On-Call availability (schedulers are on rotation for on call responsibilities)
- Overtime
- Reserve shifts
