Job description
Continuing demand and upcoming projects have resulted in opening positions as
Geo-Material Testing Technician. While working as part of a team, the role will be based out of our Medicine Hat office, where you will gain hands-on experience and contribute to various projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct field and laboratory testing on soil, aggregate, concrete, and asphalt following industry standards and EGC policies.
- Perform field density and compaction control tests to ensure compliance with project specifications.
- Assist in geotechnical investigations, including sampling, data recording, and site documentation.
- Participate in field surveys, inspections, and technical investigations related to soils, drainage, roads, and structures.
- Support the preparation of engineering specifications, drawings, and technical reports.
- Maintain safety, quality control, and housekeeping standards in both field and laboratory environments.
- Undertake technical tasks and duties as assigned by management, including supervision support when required.
- Be available for job-related travel to various project sites as needed.
Qualifications
- strong, clear, professional written and oral communications
- ability to multi-task
- work well with others
- willingness to work overtime, ability to work out of town as necessary.
- Driver’s Abstract, valid Class 5 Driver’s License with at least 3 years of driving experience in Canada
- ability to manage clients and staff with capable people skills.
- previous materials testing experience is considered an asset.
- Candidates with PR or Citizenship preferred.
