Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Developmental Support Worker to assist individuals with diverse needs in achieving greater independence and quality of life. Duties
- Assist individuals with daily living activities, including personal care, mobility, and medication administration as needed
- Support participation in educational, recreational, and community activities tailored to each individual's interests and abilities
- Implement individualized care plans developed in collaboration with families and professionals
- Use effective communication methods, including American Sign Language if applicable, to facilitate understanding and interaction
- Monitor and document progress, behaviors, and health status to ensure appropriate support adjustments
- Promote social integration by encouraging engagement with peers and community resources
- Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive environment conducive to learning and development
Skills
- Experience or training in special education or caregiving roles working with individuals with disabilities
- Proficiency in American Sign Language or willingness to learn is highly desirable
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with individuals, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Knowledge of medication administration procedures following safety protocols
- Compassionate attitude with patience, empathy, and respect for individual differences
- Ability to adapt support strategies based on individual needs and circumstances
- Excellent organizational skills to manage documentation and daily routines effectively
