Walker Aggregates, a division of Walker Industries, supplies high quality aggregates and asphalt to communities across much of Ontario. With locations in Simcoe, Grey and Essex Counties as well as the Niagara Region, Walker Aggregates operates eight quarries, eight sand & gravel pits and two asphalt plants.
Today we have opportunities for you to join us as a General Labourer at our Walker Brother Quarry in Thorold, and our Vineland Quarry in Vineland.
Duties of the job:
Work in a safe manner;
Keep Environmental Safety in high regard;
Able to work well in a team setting and be self-motivated;
Able to take direction;
General clean up by hand (shovel & wheel barrow), and/or machinery (skid steer);
Operating a front end loader;
Operating a rigid or articulating truck;
Operating the Water Truck;
Maintenance of plant equipment;
Able to lift parts or pieces weighing 50 lbs on your own throughout a shift;
Able to work outside in pleasant & unpleasant weather conditions throughout the year;
Able to work at heights;
Able to work in confined spaces;
Able to work safety around large mobile equipment;
Able to work safely around processing, moving equipment;
May have to work shift work (days/afternoons/nights) from time to time;
Able to work weekends;
Know how to burn and weld, an asset;
Other duties as assigned by Superintendent.
Ideally, you’ll have these qualifications:
High school diploma, or equivalent by experience;
Experience in a related aggregate/construction industry;
Experience operating a skid steer/man lift equipment;
Able to operate heavy equipment and/or construction equipment;
Strong mechanical aptitude;
Welding certificates is an asset;
Previous Asphalt Plant or Quarry Experience is an asset;
Common Core Certification is an asset;
DZ Class Driver’s License is an asset.
