SMS Security is a growing security services company headquartered in Toronto, proudly serving multi-residential condominium communities across the Greater Toronto Area. We provide guard services, installation and servicing of security systems, mobile patrol, and parking enforcement—and we’re scaling fast. We’re looking for a locksmith & door hardware technician to complement our sharp, proactive executive assistant to help power our leadership team.
The Role
This is a hands-on locksmith & door hardware technician position focused on the installation, servicing, repair, and troubleshooting of commercial and residential door hardware and locking systems. The ideal candidate is hands-on, technically strong, and comfortable working independently in the field while maintaining professional standards with customers and team members.
What You’ll Do
- Install, repair, replace, and service locks and door hardware.
- Install and service door closers, panic bars, crash bars, electric strikes, maglocks, locksets, cylinders, and door pivots.
- Rekey locks, master key systems, and pin cylinders.
- Cut keys and replace locksets and cylinders.
- Repair and replace commercial and residential doors and frames.
- Service heavy glass doors, pivots, and related hardware.
- Troubleshoot door and locking hardware issues and identify required repairs.
- Complete service reports and provide professional service and communication to customers.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area and assigned service vehicle.
- Assist with security system and special installation projects as required.
What We’re Looking For
- A valid G Class driver's license is required.
- 1+ year of locksmith and/or door hardware experience.
- Strong knowledge of commercial door hardware and locking systems.
- Hands-on experience with locks, cylinders, closers, panic hardware, and electric locking devices.
- Ability to troubleshoot and complete repairs independently.
- Comfortable with physical work and working in different environments.
- Locksmith certification is an asset.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
Nice to Have (Assets)
Access Control Systems
- Experience with card readers, controllers, and REX devices.
- Familiarity with systems such as Keyscan, ICT Protege, CDVI, Cansec, or Kantech
CCTV & Video Surveillance
- Experience installing and servicing IP or analog camera systems
- Familiarity with NVRs, DVRs, remote viewing, recording settings, and playback
Networking (Foundational)
- Basic networking knowledge including IP addressing, switches, routers, and PoE
- Ability to connect and troubleshoot devices on customer networks
- Experience with structured cabling and patch panels

Pay: $23.00-$30.00 per hour
