We are currently seeking a Parts Counter Representative for our Surrey, British Columbia branch office.
About the Role
This position is well suited to a Journeyperson Parts Technician or a current Parts Apprentice who already has hands‑on parts counter experience. Reporting to the Branch Manager, you will be responsible for supporting technicians and customers by accurately identifying, sourcing, and supplying mechanical and equipment parts in a fast‑paced OEM environment.
This role involves a combination of customer‑facing parts counter work, inventory and warehouse support, and ongoing product training.
Key Responsibilities
- You will provide professional parts counter service to both internal technicians and external customers, in person, by phone, and via email. You will identify customer parts requirements and supply the correct mechanical or equipment parts needed to complete repairs and service work.
- You will act as an advisor to customers and technicians by recommending additional or related parts that support complete and effective repairs. Maintaining strong customer relationships through knowledgeable, service‑focused interactions will be a key expectation.
- You will prepare and process parts quotes, invoices, returns, warranty claims, and core processing while maintaining accurate records and customer documentation. Reviewing branch backorders and assisting with inventory availability will also be part of your role.
- You will support warehouse and inventory operations by picking, packing, shipping, and receiving parts, operating a forklift as required, and participating in ongoing stock verification and cycle counting. You will assist with maintaining organized parts displays and contribute to overall warehouse efficiency.
- You will participate in required training, including OEM and vendor‑specific certification, to maintain product knowledge and proficiency.
- Other duties may be assigned as needed to support the parts department and overall business operations.
Required Qualifications
- Candidates must have a minimum of two to three years of hands‑on parts counter experience supporting mechanical, heavy equipment, or commercial equipment repairs. This is a core requirement of the role.
- Applicants should be a Journeyperson Parts Technician or a currently registered Parts Apprentice (second or third year), or have equivalent demonstrated experience.
- A strong mechanical aptitude, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities are essential. Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to provide professional customer service in a parts counter environment are required.
- Candidates must be physically able to lift up to 50 lbs and assist with regular warehouse duties.
Assets
- Forklift Operator Certification is considered an asset, or willingness to obtain certification through inhouse training. Apprenticeship training support may be available for the right candidate.
