In this position, the incumbent will be responsible for accepting, reviewing all OR bookings, scheduling cases as appropriate for all OR activities within the Surgery Program. The OR scheduler is responsible for the review of booking requests, scheduling of patients for procedures, checking for equipment and preparing all related health records information to ensure safe and accurate patient care as it relates to OR scheduling. The OR Scheduler is also responsible for maintaining accurate records in accordance with applicable policies for all OR related activities. Including collating, verifying and delivering reports related to OR scheduling as required on a regular basis. The OR Scheduler will also be responsible for the communication with physician offices including Updating offices on new or changes to policies and procedures and other hospital departments as appropriate.
What must you have?
Medical terminology certificate or completion within 3 months of hire.
Graduate of a Medical Office Administration Program or equivalent combination of post-secondary education and/or relevant experience.
What else do you bring?
2 years’ experience providing administrative support in a hospital setting.
Computer literacy in a Windows environment utilizing Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook at a senior level, as well as a good understanding of PageMaker, Access, Quattro Pro, and Scheduling Systems.
Proven attendance record.
Demonstrates understanding and complies with patient and staff safety policies and procedures that foster a safe and inclusive environment for all.
Ability to perform the essential duties of the job.

Preferably, your profile also includes:
Previous experience in an OR environment.
Previous experience with accurately maintaining perioperative charts.
Experience working in a perioperative or procedural area.
Experience with using EPIC.
