Dillon’s Environmental Sciences technical group is looking for a Biologist to join our multidisciplinary team of professionals. You will have the opportunity to work on new and exciting projects while providing clients with a fully integrated and superior customer experience.
This is an office/field-based position and will require working from Dillon’s Richmond office with intent to relocate to downtown Vancouver in spring 2024. We offer flexible work hours to help balance the competing demands of work and personal life.
Responsibilities:
What your day will look like
Technical Development
- Complete various field programs throughout Metro Vancouver, BC and Alberta and collect field data including but not limited to, freshwater aquatics, marine aquatics, wildlife surveys (e.g., amphibians, birds), land cover and habitat classification, vegetation surveys, and soil or water quality sampling.

Construction monitoring and environmental inspection support.
- Prepare technical reports and memos related to environmental assessments on various sites, as required.

Prepare environmental regulatory applications to federal, provincial and municipal agencies.
- Collaborate with and assist project managers and team members including biologists, ecologists, engineers, planners, and environmental scientists.

Business travel upon request including potential for remote work.

Participate in the Early Career Development program.

Qualifications:
What you will need to succeed

An undergraduate degree or technical diploma in biology, ecology or a related environmental sciences field.

One to two years’ minimum work experience in an environmental consulting, public sector, industry or academic setting, although entry level candidates will be considered.
- Be a registered professional (e.g. BIT, RPBio, RBTech, PAg) or eligible for designation in a professional association within 6 months.
- Aptitude to learn.

Strong oral and written communication skills, and keen attention to detail.

A valid Class 5 driver’s license.

Ability and interest to work and/or travel for extended and irregular periods, in all seasons and terrain types, potentially in remote settings for field work.
Experience:
- Experience in executing field programs as part of environmental studies.Knowledge of relevant provincial and federal environmental legislation, regulations, policies, guidelines, and regulatory permitting and approval requirements will be considered an asset.

Experience completing aquatic and terrestrial habitat assessments and salvages (i.e., fish and amphibians). Electrofishing certification and experience is considered an asset.
- Experience conducting environmental monitoring of in-stream construction projects.
