The Heavy Equipment Welder is a skilled trades position based primarily in our shops, responsible for welding, fabrication and structural repairs on heavy equipment and plant components. This role plays a key part in keeping equipment safe, operational and ready for production. In addition to welding, the position includes maintenance and general repair work on equipment.
Job Responsibilities

Perform welding, hard surfacing and fabrication on heavy equipment

Operate manual and semi automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal and overhead)

Conduct air arcing, gouging and build up repairs

Identify defective welds and complete proper repairs

Use grinders and metal shaping equipment to prepare and finish materials

Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and repair specifications

Assist with dismantling worn components and reinstalling repaired or new parts

Support general shop maintenance and equipment repairs

Maintain accurate records of work completed

Keep tools and equipment in safe working condition

Perform other duties as required
Qualifications
-
Strong welding and fabrication experience in a heavy equipment or industrial setting

Journeyman Welder certification preferred

Mechanically inclined with the ability to perform equipment repairs

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings

Safety focused with a strong attention to detail

Valid Class 5 Driver's License (Class 1 or 3 considered an asset)
