Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated, experienced, and professional Child Care Centre Supervisor to support the daily administration and operations of our Centre. The successful candidate will assist in ensuring the implementation of policies, procedures, and our Program Statement in compliance with all applicable legislation and licensing requirements. This is a leadership role requiring strong organizational, interpersonal, and regulatory knowledge, as well as a genuine commitment to the well-being and development of children and families.
Note: Pay is inclusive of WAG / Incentives
Required Qualifications
- Post-secondary diploma in Early Childhood Education (minimum)
- Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE)
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Registered Early Childhood Educator
- Demonstrated supervisory experience in a child care or early learning setting
- Valid First Aid and CPR Level C certification
- Acceptable Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) and criminal reference check
- Up-to-date immunization records
- Access to reliable transportation
- Maintenance of a professional membership related to child care or early learning
Required Skills & Competencies
- Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and time management abilities
- Sound judgment and decision-making skills in complex and dynamic situations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce clear and concise reports
- Knowledge of budgeting and day-to-day financial management in a child care setting
- Positive interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across a diverse range of stakeholders
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and handle frequent mental demands with professionalism
- Physical ability to lift 21–40 lbs on an occasional basis; adherence to universal precautions regarding bodily fluids
Key Responsibilities
The Child Care Centre Supervisor will be accountable for, but not limited to, the following:
Operations & Compliance
- Oversee all aspects of Centre operations in compliance with the Ministry of Education Child Care Licensing requirements and all relevant legislation
- Complete licensing packages and maintain the Child Care Licensing System; liaise with the Program Advisor as required
- Maintain and submit Centre statistics and documentation to applicable governing authorities
- Ensure the Centre's Policy and Procedure Manual, Parent Handbook, and Board Handbook are current and accessible
- Uphold all privacy, confidentiality, and Freedom of Information obligations
Programming & Child Development
- Implement and evaluate programming in accordance with the Centre's Program Statement and Ministry standards
- Monitor and support classroom activities, educator programming plans, and environmental assessment outcomes
- Maintain current children's files including health, special needs, and emergency contact information
- Provide classroom coverage and direct child care as required to maintain Ministry ratios
- Stay current on research trends and integrate evidence-based best practices into Centre programming
Human Resource Management
- Recruit, interview, and hire qualified staff to maintain required Ministry ratios
- Manage staff scheduling, performance evaluations, and professional development in accordance with Fostering Brant's Growth
- Foster a positive, respectful, and collaborative team environment
- Organize and lead staff meetings; ensure clear communication of operational changes to staff and families
- Address staff concerns in a timely and professional manner; implement disciplinary action when required
Family & Community Relations
- Serve as the primary point of contact for families, providing timely, professional communication and support
- Orient new families to the Centre and distribute regular communication including newsletters and Centre updates
- Recognize, document, and report suspected child abuse, accidents, or illness in accordance with Ministry standards
- Promote positive relationships with community agencies and professional networks
Board of Directors
- Attend Board meetings and provide comprehensive operational reports identifying strengths, risks, and emerging issues
- Support strategic planning and represent the Centre at community functions with Board approval
- Ensure the Board remains informed on all licensing, funding, and regulatory developments
Facilities
- Conduct and oversee monthly indoor and outdoor health and safety inspections
- Coordinate timely resolution of building maintenance concerns with the County of Brant Building Manager
- Ensure the Centre is maintained in a safe, clean, and welcoming condition at all times
