We’re looking for a Production Manager to join our Manufacturing team based in Vancouver, BC. This individual will report to the Vice President of Manufacturing Operations.
Job Overview: Production Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations and production of the factory including production planning, office support processes and productivity improvement, product quality and employee’s safety.
Working in close partnership with the Manufacturing Operations team, the manager coordinates priorities with our sales channels (i.e. retail operations, group & fundraising, and digital) to meet year-round and seasonal production requirements, delivering at least a 98% daily fill rate, while maintaining shelf life standards. They proactively plan for future requirements by identifying capacity issues both in process and/or people and creates plans to address those constraints.
You will have the opportunity to:
- Oversee production planning, aligning employee requirements with seasonal forecasts and sales channels.
- Lead day-to-day factory operations, fostering a positive work environment by modeling the behavior of respect and support in leadership of the team of supervisors, production office support staff, and unionized employees.
- Drive continuous improvement in factory processes, identifying and leading projects that create better efficiency.
- Plan for future workforce needs, providing training opportunities to enhance employee skills.
- Manage requirements and workforce planning for all factory departments and monitor retention and turnover.
- Communicate, model, and consistently apply company values, vision, policies, and procedures.
- Coach supervisors to foster clear communication and accountability.
- Set annual operational goals, objectives, and action plans with employees and maintain accountability for objectives in support of corporate objectives.
You will be a good fit if you have:
- At least five years of factory/manufacturing/production management experience
- Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline (i.e. engineering, etc.)
- Experience working within a unionized manufacturing environment.
- Proven leadership skills, including experience successfully building, developing, and motivating high-quality professional staff.
- A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills.
- Experience implementing practical lean manufacturing would be a strong asset.
