The Data & Analytics team at Loblaw is hiring an Data Analyst, Decision Support with background in web development. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Decision Support the incumbent will use advanced techniques in obtaining and analyzing data so as to obtain information in a time-efficient manner; as well as be comfortable developing and supporting basic web interfaces that automate processes and display data. This role will be the primary resource supporting various Analytics teams within the Central Business Analytics Team at Loblaw Companies Limited.

What You'll Do:
Responsible for the extraction and analysis of complex information from a variety of databases.
Develop capabilities to identify areas of opportunity and improve processes and efficiency on reporting.
Support initiatives to make business partners more self sufficient.
Work with IT in terms of identifying opportunities to make key information more easily and reliably accessible.
Act as gatekeeper with regards to security and confidentiality of data obtained through all sources.
Translating business requests and questions into SQL logic. Business requests can be strategic nature or tactical focus, including but not limited to initiatives about in-store activities, CRM initiatives, marketing promotion, etc.
Extract, review and prepare sales and customer behavior data for analysis, reporting using SQL
Analyze data to help determine insights to solve business problems
Work collaboratively with Product, Sales and Marketing and Operations groups, on cross functional projects and initiatives
Actively identify and execute initiatives to improve process and data infrastructure
Strictly adhere to legal and compliance guidelines; regarding access and exposure to sensitive and confidential information

What You'll Bring:
Mandatory: Programming skills with Python. Optional: Scala or R.
Mandatory: Experience with Django Framework, HTML, JavaScript. Optional: React, Angular
University Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, and Mathematics is preferred
Experience with Hadoop and understanding of its components (HDFS, HBase, Spark) is an asset.
Data mining experience working with a large relational customer database
3 years experience in utilizing advanced SQL data extraction and manipulation tools (MS SQL, Unix, Linux, IBM Netezza, IBM DB2, Teradata).
Experience in BI platform (Power BI, Microstrategy, Cognos, SAS, etc)
Superb analytical and conceptual thinking skills; to not only manipulate but also derive meaningful interpretations from data
Ability to take initiative, multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
Capability to liaise with all levels across the enterprise on projects and ad-hoc requests
Strong detail orientation is essential in this role
A Team player and self starter
Advanced MS Office skills (Excel, Word, Access)
