The Jewelry Cataloger is responsible for accurately identifying, researching, describing, and cataloging jewelry items for auction listings and inventory records. This role requires attention to detail, knowledge of jewelry terminology, gemstones, precious metals, and the ability to create compelling and accurate product descriptions that help maximize sales.
Key Responsibilities
- Examine and identify jewelry items, including rings, necklaces, bracelets, earrings, pendants, watches, coins, and other valuables.
- Determine and record details such as metal type, gemstone type, gemstone weight, diamond characteristics, hallmarks, and overall condition.
- Create accurate, detailed, and attractive catalog descriptions for auction listings.
- Verify measurements, weights, sizes, and other product specifications.
- Research comparable items and market values when required.
- Assign appropriate categories, keywords, and inventory codes.
- Review appraisals, certificates, and supporting documentation for accuracy.
- Coordinate with photography staff to ensure items are properly photographed.
- Maintain inventory records and ensure catalog information is complete and accurate.
- Identify any discrepancies, damaged items, or authenticity concerns and report them to management.
- Meet daily cataloging targets while maintaining high accuracy standards.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in jewelry cataloging, jewelry sales, appraisal, gemology, pawn operations, or auction environments preferred.
- Knowledge of diamonds, colored gemstones, precious metals, and jewelry terminology.
- Familiarity with jewelry grading standards and hallmark identification.
- Strong computer skills and experience with inventory or auction management systems.
- Excellent written communication and data-entry skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Pay: $17.60-$19.00 per hour
