Prairie North Construction Ltd. is a heavy civil construction company with 30 years in the industry hiring for the position for Flaggers/Labourers.
This is a local project-based position in Edmonton, Ab
6 days on 1 day off 12 hour days
Description: Flaggers will be responsible for safety directing traffic through Construction sites and work zones. In this role, general duties will include but are not limited to directing traffic, holding signs and standing outside for long hours in varying weather conditions, lifting up to 50lbs. occasionally, and communicating with the crew through handheld radios.
Candidates must be able to meet all safety requirements and policies, work under pressure, work cooperatively and independently with a team in a fast paced complex environment. Working with construction team to establish safe movement of traffic around construction zones, in accordance with safety regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Flagging motorists to warn them of obstacles or repair work ahead.
- Taking ownership of keeping work zone and passing cars safely
- May need to place signs, barricades, traffic cones, and other warning devices.
- Directing traffic flow using Department of Transportation Regulations.
- Installation of silt fence and geotextiles.
- Hand raking granular materials.
- Experience working around Heavy Equipment.
- Shoveling Equipment tracks.
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Follow directions from Foreman/Supervisor
- Cleaning up construction site
- Duties will vary according to job assignment.
Qualifications:
- Valid Flaggers Certificate
- Dress appropriately for all weather conditions.
- Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- CSA approved steel toed work boots
- Valid class 5 drivers license
- Communication skills required - Flaggers remain in constant contact with crew and operators.
- Able to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time.
- 1 years+ experience in traffic control preferred.
- 1 years+ construction experience
