Position Summary
Interpreting and following the Job Connect Program Guidelines set by the Workplace Preparation Branch of the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities ( MTCU ), the Employment Advisor (EA) assists youth, adults, immigrants and internationally trained individuals with employment barriers in reaching their goals of long term employment. The Employment Advisor is responsible for delivering the Job Connect Program in the College catchment area, with special attention to the new apprenticeship initiatives. The EA provides individual assessments and on-going support and career guidance to clients, seeks and develops job and placement opportunities for individual clients with employers, and matches clients’ employment and training needs with those of participating employers. In addition, the EA is responsible for marketing the program to the outside community using a high degree of judgement and liaises with community agencies, sectoral groups and schools as a means to generate client and employer referrals.
