Cool Air Rentals is seeking a Dynamic and experienced Calgary Branch Manager!
Our Branch Manager will provide overall leadership for the Calgary branch and holds full accountability for operations, profitability, safety, and customer service. This is a hands-on role responsible for day-to-day performance across rental equipment utilization, maintenance and reliability, installations and removals, and team results. The ideal candidate has a well-rounded understanding of the HVAC business, thrives leading a team, and creates a positive, efficient, and safe work environment for everyone.
What Will You Do:
Operations:
- Direct all daily branch activities to keep the HVAC rental fleet running efficiently, covering rentals, deliveries, installations, maintenance, pickups, and equipment readiness.
- Oversee inventory levels, utilization rates, and equipment condition; coordinate preventive maintenance and repairs with the Journeyman HVAC Mechanic, Apprentice, and Installers.
- Optimize shop and yard workflow while maintaining a clean, organized, and professional facility.
Leadership & People:
- Lead, coach, mentor, and develop the Rental Coordinator, Journeyman HVAC Mechanic, Apprentice, and Installers.
- Manage hiring, onboarding, training, performance reviews, scheduling, and disciplinary matters for direct reports (working with HR when needed).
- Build a positive, accountable, high-performing, and safety-first team culture.
- Partner effectively with the Western Canada Sales Manager and Sales Representatives on customer requirements, project support, service delivery, and revenue opportunities.
- Financial Accountability
- Accountable for branch P&L results: drive rental revenue, manage budgets, control costs, track key metrics (utilization, revenue, expenses), and meet profitability targets.
- Prepare and review monthly operational and financial reports, forecasts, and budgets.
- Identify and implement improvements in efficiency, utilization, pricing, and overall financial performance.
Sales Champion:
- Act as the primary operational contact and escalation point for customers; resolve issues quickly to protect and grow revenue through strong satisfaction and repeat business.
- Support sales efforts by ensuring reliability and equipment availability, on-time installations and service, and close day-to-day coordination with Sales Representatives.
- Work closely with the Western Canada Sales Manager to align operational capacity with revenue goals.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers in the Calgary area and surrounding markets.
Safety, Compliance & Quality:
- Embody a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with Alberta OHS regulations
- Oversee safety training, audits, and incident investigations.
- Maintain high standards for equipment condition, installation quality, and jobsite performance.
- Uphold company policies, procedures and industry standards.
- Other Responsibilities
- Recommend fleet or operational adjustments as needed.
- Represent the company professionally in the local market.
- Perform additional duties to support branch and company objectives.
Qualifications:
- Business management degree or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of experience in a leadership role in HVAC operations, Project Management, construction, or sales.
- Solid grasp of P&L management and branch operations.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Comfortable working with technical information and explaining it clearly.
- Able to navigate open communication within the team and organization.
- A team leader who uses sound judgement to make decisions.
- A valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driving abstract.
