Job description
Looking for a Bus Driver who will be responsible for safely transporting passengers within Iqaluit Nunavut. Their main duties include operating a bus, ensuring passenger safety, maintaining cleanliness, and providing excellent customer service to passengers. Housing and Flight are included.
Main Duties/Responsibilities
- Safely operate a bus to transport passengers to various destinations within Iqaluit.
- Ensure the safety of passengers by following all traffic rules and regulations.
- Maintain a clean and well-maintained bus interior and exterior.
- Provide assistance to passengers with boarding and exiting the bus as needed.
- Collecting fares or tickets from passengers and issuing tickets when necessary.
- Answering passenger questions and providing information about routes and schedules.
- Communicate with the central dispatch unit as required.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, and in varying weather conditions.
- Ensure a positive and friendly customer service experience for all passengers.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum 25+ years of age.
- Valid driver's license with the appropriate endorsements for a commercial bus driver.
- Five years of driving experience with a full license.
- Valid, clean driver's abstract and driving record.
- A clean criminal record check.
- Ability to work flexible hours in all weather conditions.
- Legally authorized to work in Canada.

Experience:
- Bus driving: 5+ years (transit, charter, school bus, etc.)
- Safe and reliable operation of various types of buses, including transit and motorcoach buses.
- Proficiency in handling and maneuvering large vehicles in rural settings.
- Experience maintaining and conducting routine checks on buses to ensure they are in optimal working condition.
- Skilled in handling passenger interactions and addressing their needs with professionalism and courtesy.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and emergency procedures to ensure passenger well-being.
- Adherence to all traffic laws and regulations, with a track record of accident-free driving.
- Familiarity with fare collection systems and ticketing processes.
- Ability to troubleshoot minor bus maintenance issues and coordinate repairs when necessary.
- Understanding of Bus routes
