What you can expect in a typical day:
The successful candidate will develop, enhance, and maintain several components of our Safety and Emergency Response Programs.

Responsibilities also include but are not limited to:
Facilitate the Refinery Safety Orientation program, for all operations personnel and contact personnel
Ensure WHMIS training is kept current for refinery operations staff and other Irving Oil Refinery employees to meet provincial guidelines
Maintain the Emergency Operations Center manual and resources to operate the center in the event of an emergency
Support the implementation, compliance, communication and continued improvement of the Safety and ER Group initiatives
Facilitate mentoring orientation for all new operations personnel and contract personnel
Perform fit testing on all operating personnel
Input data entry for refinery focus inspections, month end, and all training completed by refinery safety trainers
Schedule, monitor, and track compliance of all operations training as well as contract training
Participate in the design, documentation and implementation of new and improved processes and practices to manage change to safety orientation, mentoring orientation and fit testing
Collaborate with other EH&S departments to ensure that safety inquires, and issues are addressed quickly and that business requirements are implemented efficiently and effectively

Travel is not a requirement for this role
Education and experience

Post-secondary education is preferred
Experience working in applications (LMS and Access data base)
3 to 5 years of company experience
Good working knowledge of Health & Safety & Emergency Response procedures
