Our services include bookkeeping, compilation engagements, review engagements, audits, tax compliance, estate and trust planning, and estate administration support.
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Bookkeeper / Accounting Assistant to join our team. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop your accounting skills and gain exposure to a wide range of clients and professional services within a public accounting environment.
Duties
- Perform bookkeeping services for clients across various industries
- Manage day-to-day bookkeeping activities, including data entry and record keeping
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions efficiently and accurately
- Perform bank reconciliations to ensure consistency between bank statements and internal records
- Conduct account reconciliations and account analysis to identify discrepancies or errors
- Prepare monthly and year-end bookkeeping working papers and schedules
- Assist with HST/GST filings and other government reporting requirements
- Maintain and update financial records using accounting software such as QuickBooks, QuickBooks online, Excel and CaseWare
- Assist with processes and financial reporting preparation
- Support payroll processing and related documentation
- Communicate with clients to obtain information and resolve bookkeeping matters
- Prepare reports for management review and audit purposes
- Assist accountants with compilation, review, and audit engagements
- Support tax preparation and estate/trust administration engagements as required
Qualifications
- Certificate or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Approximately 1 year of bookkeeping or accounting experience
- Solid understanding of fundamental accounting principles and bookkeeping concepts
- Proficiency in accounting software with QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, CaseWare, or similar accounting software is an asset
- Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliation
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to analyze financial data accurately and efficiently
- Strong communication skills for collaboration with team members and external clients
- Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Familiarity with Canadian bookkeeping, payroll, and HST requirements
- Professional attitude and willingness to learn
- Ability to communicate in Mandarin (Must) and/or Cantonese is an asset
