QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduate of a Community College Medical Secretarial program or equivalent required
- Medical Terminology Certificate or equivalent required
- Clerical experience in a clinical setting required
- Strong organizational skills required
- Knowledge of and experience entering data into the Critical Care Services Information System (CSIS) portal required
- Previous experience in a critical care environment an asset
- Keyboarding skills of 45 wpm with 95% accuracy and data entry skills of 6,200 kph with 95% accuracy required
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with all members of the healthcare team required
- Ability to transcribe physicians' orders an asset
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment and prioritize responsibilities in response to fluctuating census levels and changing patient activity required
- Knowledge of collective agreements and payroll timesheet processes an asset
- Demonstrated commitment to personal safety and the safety of fellow workers, patients, volunteers, and visitors required
- Commitment to supporting and contributing to a culture of safety and prevention of adverse health events required
- Good attendance and work record required
- Bilingualism (Advanced level English/French) is required. All unilingual candidates are encouraged to apply and may be considered if the identified French requirement has been met or there are no successful bilingual candidates. A formal French test will be conducted to evaluate the proficiency level.
