About Little Friends Child Care
Little Friends Child Care Toronto Inc. is excited to welcome passionate, experienced, and caring Registered Early Childhood Educators (RECEs) to our brand-new licensed child care centre in Scarborough.
We are currently hiring Full-Time RECEs for our Toddler and Preschool classrooms.
We are looking for experienced educators who are dedicated to creating a safe, nurturing, engaging, and inclusive learning environment where children can develop a strong sense of belonging and thrive.
About the Role
As a Registered Early Childhood Educator at Little Friends Child Care, you will be responsible for providing a high-quality early learning program while supporting the safety, well-being, development, and individual needs of every child.
You will work collaboratively with fellow educators, centre leadership, and families to create a positive and stimulating environment that reflects Ontario's early learning philosophy.
Our program incorporates a thoughtful combination of emergent, play-based learning and Montessori-inspired practices, allowing educators to follow children's interests while encouraging independence, exploration, and meaningful learning experiences.
Positions are available within our Toddler and Preschool programs, with classroom assignments determined based on experience, strengths, and the needs of the centre.
Responsibilities
- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate learning experiences based on How Does Learning Happen?
- Create a safe, welcoming, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment.
- Provide active supervision and ensure the health, safety, and well-being of children at all times.
- Observe and document children's learning, interests, development, and emerging skills.
- Use observations to support curriculum planning and meaningful learning experiences.
- Build warm, responsive, and positive relationships with children.
- Develop professional and respectful relationships with parents and families.
- Maintain regular communication with families regarding their child's experiences, development, and well-being.
- Support children's social, emotional, cognitive, language, creative, and physical development.
- Encourage children's independence, curiosity, problem-solving, and confidence.
- Work collaboratively with RECEs, Early Childhood Assistants, management, and other centre staff.
- Maintain classroom organization, cleanliness, learning materials, and documentation.
- Follow appropriate procedures for attendance, transitions, outdoor play, meals, rest periods, and other daily routines.
- Understand and follow procedures related to allergies, medication, health, and emergency situations.
- Ensure compliance with the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA), licensing requirements, centre policies, and applicable health and safety requirements.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, training, and centre events.
- Maintain confidentiality and professional standards at all times.
- Contribute positively to the culture and development of our new child care centre.
QualificationsRequired
- Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
- Early Childhood Education Diploma or recognized equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience working in a licensed child care centre.
- Strong experience working directly with Toddler and/or Preschool-aged children.
- Valid Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification.
- Current Vulnerable Sector Check or ability to obtain one before commencing employment.
- Strong understanding of How Does Learning Happen?, ELECT, and Ontario's Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA).
- Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate programming.
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of an early childhood education team.
- Dependable, punctual, professional, caring, and patient.
- Genuine passion for working with young children and their families.
