Job Summary
This position is on-site and will be responsible for coordinating and executing environmental, safety, and health activities that support primarily the corporate initiative in Crossfield, AB EPS plants with additional support to other plants, as required. This role includes being directly responsible for the creation, adoption, implementation, maintenance, and improvement of the facility environmental, safety and health, as well as policies and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee the EHS programs and initiates activities that will improve the level of personnel safety and health and environmental compliance.
- Develop and administer EHS training for all employees (if required, including outside sales personnel, office, etc.)
- Follow incident management processes and conduct timely incident investigations and ensure timely reporting.
- Resource expert on EHS regulatory requirements, corporate policies and procedures and the and adoption into SOP's and WI's.
- Create and execute employee training programs to reduce operational risks.
- Ensure that all corrective actions and recommendations are completed and communicated within the expected timeframe. Examples include the following: incident investigation actions, audit findings, maturity assessments, and safety committee meetings.
- Review and update the EHS policies and procedures in accordance with Company policies and in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and guidelines.
- Maintain WHMIS and GHS requirements for hazard communication and keep MSDS current.
- Coordinate Industrial Hygiene surveys as required (air, noise, ergonomics, etc.)
- Ensure required EHS documentation is completed for all new processes, materials, and equipment including SOPs, JSA's, and LOTO procedures.
- Review safety related documents and narratives such as Safety Committee minutes, inspection reports, forklift inspection checklists, accident investigation reports, and near miss reports
- Keep records of all employee training, corrections of unsafe conditions, and dates and results of workplace inspections. Maintain and submit documentation as required.
- Maintain all weekly, monthly, and yearly safety inspections
- Maintain all hazardous material and hazardous material area checks
- Management representative for ISO 14001 / 9001 certifications
- Oversee all yearly updates to the safety program, including the Safety Manual, Injury Illness Prevention Plan, Emergency Procedures Manual, and the Emergency Contingency Plan

Required Skills/Abilities/Knowledge:
- Minimum of valid certification for Standard Intermediate First Aid
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of provincial and federal regulations.
- Experience with formal problem solving and root cause analysis.
- Ability to function in a team environment, work well with others, handle multiple priorities and projects as necessary.
- Strong proficiency in MS Office, Benchmark operation a plus.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree preferred in environmental science, industrial hygiene, occupational safety, engineering, or related fields. Three years proven experience in EHS.
- Seven years proven experience in EHS in a manufacturing setting without a Bachelor's degree.
- Process Safety Management experience preferred
- Experience in provincial regulations, Process Safety Management requirements, and ISO standards
Working Conditions:
- Significant time is spent on the production floor (60%).
- Exposure to varying temperatures in manufacturing environment.
- Monday – Friday, 8 am – 5 pm. Facilitating training on other shifts occasionally required.
