JOB SUMMARY:
The Care Aide provides direct care to residents at the site and assists the residents in participating in all activities of daily living in a home-like setting. Reports to the General Manager and has a direct line to the LPN nurse.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Carries out all routines and procedures to maintain a clean, safe and pleasant environment for the residents and co-workers.
2. Complies with the facility policies and procedures pertaining to the care of the residents.
3. Assists residents as necessary with Activities of Daily Living including bathing, personal hygiene, grooming, toileting and dressing.
4. Ensures residents of safe mobility ,as necessary.
5. Tends to laundry, housekeeping and food service duties as required and time permits.
6. Participates in group activities as time from giving care allows.
7. Provides residents with gentle, respectful, safe care at all times.
8. Builds trusting relationships with the residents.
9. Works together with other members of the team in a respectful, co-operative way.
10. Attends staff meetings and education and training programs as required.
11. Reports any concerns or observations accurately on the resident’s health record and to co-workers.
12. Follows individual resident care plans. Needs to be aware of any residents with food allergies or sensitivities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be skilled at problem-solving, including being able to identify issues and resolve them in a timely manner.
- Must possess strong interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to prioritize and plan work activities to use time efficiently.
- Must be organized, accurate, thorough, and able to monitor work for quality.
- Must be dependable, able to follow instructions, respond to management direction, and must be able to provide performance through management feedback.
- Must have the ability to establish and maintain good interpersonal relations by displaying tact, courtesy and patience with applicants, clients, and staff.
EDUCATION/TRAINING:
- Completion of a Care Aide (HCA) program or equivalent.
- BC Care Aide Registration.
- Current First Aid & CPR
- Food Safe Certificate.
- WHMIS Certificate
EXPERIENCE:
- Geriatric experience is considered an asset.
PERSONAL:
- Must be able to speak English fluently and communicate effectively both verbally and in the composition of written materials.
- Must pass a Criminal Record Check.
SCHEDULE:
- Dayshift: 7:00am-3:00pm; days TBD
- Evening: 3:00pm-11:00pm; days TBD
Job Types: Part-time, Casual
Pay: $22.42-$25.61 per hour
