Position Overview
The Bookkeeper is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records across multiple corporate entities within the group. This role supports daily accounting operations, ensures timely financial reporting, and assists with property management bookkeeping, development project tracking, and intercompany reconciliations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working within a fast-paced, multi-entity environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Daily Accounting & Data Entry
- Record all financial transactions, including AP, AR, credit card entries, and banking activity.
- Upload and code invoices across multiple companies.
- Maintain digital filing systems and ensure all documentation is organized.
2. Bank & Credit Card Reconciliations
- Perform monthly reconciliations for multiple accounts.
- Investigate discrepancies and ensure accurate entries.
3. Intercompany Transactions
- Record intercompany loans, transfers, and allocations.
- Reconcile intercompany balances monthly across entities.
- Record transactions within the Trust including but not limited to Life Insurance
4. Loan & LOC Tracking
- Maintain mortgage and LOC schedules.
- Track borrowing activity and interest calculations.
- Maintain lending and investment records
5. Month-End & Reporting
- Assist with month-end closing tasks including accruals and journal entries.
- Prepare preliminary financial statements.
- Maintain audit-ready books.
- File and pay GST every month for eligible companies
6. Support for Tax, Year-End & External Advisors
- Prepare schedules for accountants.
- Maintain compliance documents and CRA correspondence.
- Provide clean books for Year-end financials & Tax filings
- Assist with Adjustments & Audit queries
7. Administrative & Office Support
- Assist with filing, records management, and ad hoc office tasks.
- Support management with special accounting or operations projects.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of Bookkeeping experience.
- Diploma or certificate in accounting or related field.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks (desktop & online).
- Experience in real estate, development, or property management is an asset.
- Strong understanding of bookkeeping and multi-entity accounting.
- High attention to detail and strong communication skills.
- Integrity and confidentiality.
- Strong analytical and reconciliation skills.
- Ability to work independently and multitask.
- Adaptability within a fast-paced environment.
Schedule and Location
- 20-24 hours /week
- 9am-2pm (Open to another schedule too)
- Monday – Friday
- Abbotsford
Pay: $27.00-$34.00 per hour
