Day in the Life:
Reporting into the Content Lead – Social, the Copywriter – Social is an integral part of the Creative team. The successful candidate lives online and has a proven ability to use language to connect with communities on social media. Equal parts writer, storyteller, and ideas-haver, the Copywriter – Social has exceptional organizational skills and ability to transform ideas into engaging content, as well as a strong sense for brand tone, a passion for purpose-driven storytelling, and an eye for detail. This person is interested in retail and its changing landscape, and is eager to champion great ideas.

This role will actively support our DE&I framework by identifying opportunities to increase the diversity of our products and brands. They will lead with inclusion to nurture our OneTeam culture by removing barriers for our Associates and communities.
What You Will Do:
Write social media copy that speaks the language of our audience in the voice of our brand, showcasing a shared passion for our retail pillars (including fashion, beauty, home and kids).
Devour digital trends and content and use that knowledge to ensure The Bay is always on point with our social media storytelling.
Share and tap into Canadian and global trends, events, moments, and conversations that people are – and will be – talking about on social media.
Stay on top of new features and developments across social media platforms and strategize new ways to tell stories in novel ways.
Distill sometimes complex information and offers into engaging, concise, and clear posts.
Help plan and strategize for the social media calendar throughout the year and bring a thoughtful perspective on which stories The Bay tells.
Creative conceptualization and iteration for special projects, major promotions and seasonal moments.
Champion brand expression and tone of voice while maintaining consistencies in copywriting.
Edit social media copy as needed to ensure consistency of tone and accuracy.
Present concepts to project stakeholders and leadership
What You Will Need:
2+ years experience as a copywriter for an agency or in-house creative team.
Deep knowledge of social media platforms including but not limited to: Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, Snapchat, LinkedIn, YouTube and Spotify.
You have a compelling portfolio that elevates a brand's creative experience.
You can distill information into engaging stories that are executable.
Your work proves you can think big and optimize based on channel (and your book proves that).
You thrive in a team environment and play well with others in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.
Strong organizational skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects differentiates you.
You have exceptional presentation skills with the ability to clearly and articulately explain your rationale.
You are passionate about transforming brands through storytelling.
You have great taste and are up to speed with relevant trends within the industry. Experience with SEO integration is beneficial.
