Purpose:
The Senior Security Analyst is a versatile and experienced information security professional skilled in a variety of relevant technical and soft skills that are essential for protecting the digital assets of the University. The Senior Security Analyst supports the mission of the University by implementing and helping coordinate the University's information security program. operating and administrating services to help manage the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of University information systems and data. This includes full security investigations, assessments, monitoring and incident response for all faculty and staff groups as well as students and general York community members using the University's systems. The incumbent is responsible for identifying and quantifying business risks to the institution by discovery and consideration of threats, vulnerabilities, and value/impact of data and systems. The Senior Security Analyst provides consulting on security aspects of system design, and enforcing security policy, procedure, and standards. The Senior Security Analyst provides and promotes awareness of information security among students, staff and faculty using crucial insights into security concerns and issues.
Education:
University degree in Computer Science or related field, or 7 years of current and relevant experience.One or more security certifications from SANS or similar organizations.
Experience:
4+ years' experience in an information security role, preferably within or for a large organization.Professional experience and familiarity with security toolsets in common use, including intrusion detection systems, security event monitoring, vulnerability scanning and assessment, electronic triage and forensics.Experience conducting investigations, providing data and reports from digital media to be used in investigations.Working experience with intrusion detection systems with experience assessing potential items of risk and opportunities of vulnerability in the network.Experience with software and security architectures to evaluate and develop approach to solutions, as well as installation, configuration and monitoring.

Thorough knowledge of TCP/IP and networking concepts. Some working knowledge of system or network administration and project management would be helpful.

York implemented a revised CPM Compensation Framework in 2019. The Framework is a salary grid consisting of 6 or 8 steps (depending on job grade) which is reviewed annually with possible adjustments, and a lump sum Performance Based Recognition Award.
