Wirex is a privately held company who manufactures cable assemblies, wire harnesses, and distributes electrical/mechanical components into many different industries. Wirex is a growing Company situated in the GTA. We are looking to add key individuals to our team. We are currently looking for a Electro-Mechanical Lead Hand.
Position Description:
We are seeking a dedicated Lead Hand to oversee operations in our new production facility. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will supervise a team while actively assisting in the assembly of panels and wire/cable harness products. This role requires leadership skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Minimum Capabilities to be Considered
- Experience in a manufacturing or production environment
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred
- Strong attention to detail and quality control
- Ability to work in a fast-paced setting
- Good problem-solving and organizational skills
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English clearly
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily production activities and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards
- Manage and track employee attendance of the production team
- Perform facility start-up procedures before shifts and ensure proper shutdown at end of shift
- Provide technical guidance and leadership to production staff as needed
- Ensure team members use correct tools and follow production orders, assembly drawings, and work instructions
- Monitor product and process quality in accordance with company standards and procedures
- Coordinate completed jobs for shipping, including labeling, bagging, and kitting for timely transfer
- Communicate regularly with the Operations Manager on job status, progress, and scheduling
- Assemble wire and cable harness products using work instructions and drawings
- Assemble electrical components within control panels
- Manufacture control panels, including drilling and mechanical assembly
- Operate semi-automatic cutting, stripping, and crimping machines
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized production/workshop environment
