The Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering people to live well with dementia through the delivery of programs, services, advocacy, awareness and research. Position Summary:
We are seeking an outward-facing, energetic individual to help lead our public awareness initiatives that are focused on improving the lives of people living with dementia and their care partners.
Reporting to the Director of Public Awareness and Communications, the Public Awareness Coordinator (PAC) is one of our most public facing positions, taking a leading role in presentations and other awareness work that increases the public’s understanding of dementia; the signs and symptoms of dementia; risk reduction; and the programs and services of the Society.
Your work will engage individuals and mobilize communities to become more accessible and inclusive for people living with dementia and their care partners; address the issue of stigma; and provide a fuller, richer understanding of the Society’s work and mission.
Responsibilities: (including but not limited to)
· Helps lead the Society’s awareness and community engagement initiatives;
· Develops awareness program models in line with current best practices and research;
· Organizes and delivers presentations on the Society’s awareness initiatives;
· With the direction of the DPAC, PAC assists in the development of key messages, position statements, promotional campaigns, and publications in support of Society awareness and community engagement initiatives and other Society’s strategic goals where appropriate;
· Develops awareness and community engagement materials and presents workshops for interested community partners specifically pertaining to the Society’s awareness and community engagement initiatives as directed by DPAC;
· Assists in the timely reporting requirements of projects to both external and internal audiences
· Build and maintain partnerships and relationships both internally and externally to further the awareness and community engagement initiatives;
· Provide support to the CEO and other team members in external constituent relationship work;
· Ensure caregivers and people with dementia are full participants in the Society’s awareness and community engagement initiatives;
· Assist in the data collection and management and engagement of constituents;
· Assist in the coordination across departments in managing constituent relations;
· Assist in creating content to engage individuals, organizations and stakeholders with our awareness initiatives and related areas
