Operations/Cleaning Supervisor

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Operations/Cleaning Supervisor to manage and coordinate the daily operations of our cleaning teams across various client locations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial cleaning, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to ensure that all work is completed to the highest standards of safety and cleanliness. This role requires frequent travel between sites, so a valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervision and Coordination: Supervise and coordinate the activities of cleaning staff (light duty, industrial, or specialized cleaners) across multiple sites.
- Quality Control: Inspect all sites and facilities regularly to ensure established safety and cleanliness standards are consistently met and maintained.
- Staff Management: Assist with the hiring, training, and ongoing guidance of new and existing cleaning personnel, ensuring they are equipped with necessary skills and knowledge.
- Scheduling and Operations: Prepare and manage work schedules, coordinate activities, and reallocate tasks as needed to cover absences or meet deadlines.
- Inventory and Equipment Management: Monitor stock levels of cleaning supplies and equipment, place orders when necessary, and ensure all equipment is well-maintained and safe for use.
- Health and Safety Compliance: Enforce all safety and health protocols, including the correct use of cleaning chemicals (WHMIS/COSHH regulations) and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Client Relations: Engage with clients professionally, address any queries or complaints promptly, and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction are achieved.
- Reporting and Documentation: Prepare reports and maintain accurate records of cleaning operations, staff performance, attendance, and incidents for management review.
- Cleaning Duties: Be prepared to perform cleaning duties as required, especially during staff shortages or to assist the team.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Experience: A minimum of three (3) years of proven experience in a cleaning role, with demonstrated experience in a supervisory or management position.
- Driver's License & Travel: Must possess a valid driver's license and vehicle- have the ability to travel between various work locations on a regular basis.
- Leadership: Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach, and manage a diverse team effectively.
Knowledge:
- Intimate familiarity with commercial cleaning methods, equipment, supplies, and health and safety regulations.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with staff, management, and clients.
- Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage time constraints and deadlines.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physical activities, including standing for long periods, walking, bending, lifting (up to 50 lbs), and handling materials.
Availability:
- Flexibility to work various shifts (days, evenings, weekends, holidays) as operational needs require.
Education
- Completion of secondary school is required.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., in cleaning techniques or health and safety) are an asset.
