We are seeking a highly motivated Research Associate with a background in molecular biology or similar field to join our fast-paced and results-focused team. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic about laboratory bench work and eager to learn new techniques, is capable of quickly learning and executing various molecular biology techniques, exhibits strong organizational skills and attention to detail, is comfortable taking on new challenges, will work collaboratively with others, and is comfortable working in a highly dynamic and rapidly scaling company.
Requirements:
- B.S. or B.A. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Cell Biology, Biotechnology or related discipline
- 1+ years of research experience in academic or industry setting (industry experience preferred)
- Familiarity with core molecular biology techniques including microbial cultivation, PCR, gel electrophoresis, and plasmid DNA purification
- Experience with aseptic technique, microbial cultivation and clonal propagation is a strong plus
- Hands-on experience with DNA cloning techniques (PCR, Gibson, Golden Gate) is a strong plus
- Strong record keeping, organizational, time management, and written/oral communication skills
- Ability to work flexibly in a collaborative and dynamic environment, and able to adapt to changing project demands, including a willingness to take on and perform a wide range of duties
- Motivated learner, capable of quickly getting up to speed on new techniques, methods, and/or biological systems
- Passionate and excited about scientific advancement with a strong commitment to excellence
Responsibilities:
· Learn and execute a wide range of workflows supporting programs involving construction, scale up, purification, and analytical characterization of plasmid DNA and microbial cell lines with support from scientific team
- Collect and document experimental results and communicate to project team
- Capture experimental results in electronic lab notebook entries and certificates of analysis
- Support continuous improvement and operational efficiency efforts to improve existing laboratory processes and workflows to make them faster, cheaper, and more robust
- Follow standard operating procedures and work in accordance with relevant health and safety guidelines
- Maintain a clean, safe, and functional laboratory environment.
- Track laboratory inventory to ensure necessary consumables and reagents are on hand
