We are looking for Virtualization System Administrator.
CGI is a forward-thinking organization committed to delivering robust IT infrastructure solutions. We are seeking a motivated System Administrator with expertise in Virtualization domain to join our infrastructure team. In this role, you will learn and support our transition toward modern Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and automated workflows while getting hands-on experience with enterprise hardware and virtualization platforms.

Your future duties and responsibilities
As a virtual infrastructure specialist on our team, you will be working on several big initiatives within the business. This role will require communication and interaction with multiple internal and external clients. The virtual infrastructure specialist will also troubleshoot issues and develop new enhancements to achieve targeted results. If you have experience in infrastructure management and infrastructure development through automation we want to hear from you. Your responsibilities will include:
- Administration of the IT virtual infrastructure
- Assist and take on duties in analyzing, designing and architecting virtual infrastructure
- Experience with designing, building, and maintaining a high-availability virtual environments
- Strong understanding of ESXi, vCenter, OVM/OLVM, and similar hypervisors
- Strong understanding of shared storage technologies including SAN, NAS, fiber channel, iSCSI, and NFS.
- Strong understanding of network technologies as it relates to the hypervisor
- Certification in virtual infrastructure technology an asset (vmware, OVM/OLVM)
- Strong understanding of ESXi host security
- Ability to perform root cause analysis and act on results
- Ability to perform performance analysis to determine bottlenecks
- Ability to automate day-to-day tasks/activities using scripting technologies (PowerCLI, Powershell, Python)
- Ability to perform migration/upgrade of large-scale virtual environments (vSphere, OVM/OLVM)
- Knowledge in deploying and configuring Cisco UCS hardware (rackmount, blade & Hyperconverged technologies)
- Knowledge in converged and hyper-converged platforms (Nutanix experience an asset)
- Knowledge in Pure storage Flash Array and Flashblade systems is preferred
- Experience installing, configuring and managing VMWare virtual server environments and Storage Area Networking devices.
- Experience in building resilient virtual environments using various Disaster Recovery tools & techniques (Cirrus tool experience an asset)
- Ability to work independently, as well as collaborate in a team environment
- Effective planning and organizational skills; ability to complete assignments and meet deadlines
- Ability to create and write clear, complete documentation including policies/procedures and diagrams
- Demonstrated listening, verbal and written communication skills; accurately prepare all types of business correspondence, design and produce reports; ability to analyze and interpret job related business periodicals and technical manuals and assist in the preparation of training manuals.
- Ability to maintain highly confidential information; ability to multi-task and effectively manage stress and pressure through changing priorities calmly in all situations.
- Excellent customer service orientation and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with managers, employees, vendors, consultants and others; ability to exercise good judgment, sound reasoning skills and discretion in making independent decisions commensurate with responsibilities
- Sound understanding of datacenter operational processes coupled with proven business and analytical skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects, while ensuring that commitments and timetables are met

- Ability to partner with internal stakeholders to design operational solutions

Required qualifications to be successful in this role
- Infrastructure knowledge in software defined network, storage and datacenter (Cisco UCS manager & Cisco Intersight is an asset)
- Knowledge in Virtualization (ESX), VMware, OVM/OLVM, Windows/Linux
- Automation experience
- Ability to write in Bash/Powershell
- 5 years of server administration experience in a large-scale production environment
- Strong understanding of agile development workflow and process.
- Strong understanding of quality assurance methodologies, workflow, and process
- Experience with deployment of configuration management and automation solutions
- Experience in disaster recovery
- Expertise in building scalable, high performance development and production infrastructure systems
- Ability to rapidly assess, analyze, and resolve complicated issues with little initial information or direction and with varying degrees of ambiguity

- Excellent communications skills, speaking and writing (English is mandatory, French an asset)
Education and Certification
- Bachelor's or College degree with a focus on Computer Science or equivalent experience
CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $75,000–$125,000. This role is an existing vacancy.
