Nova Hotels is a Canadian, family owned and operated hotel chain and management company based in Western Canada. Nova has 14 full and limited service hotels across Alberta, Saskatchewan and the Northwest Territories. Nova Hotels started its’ business in Yellowknife in 2000 and has had over 32 hotels and operate 6 different brands in the last 21 years of business, making us one of the larger independent hotel chains in Western Canada. PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
Reporting to the Corporate Director of Sales, the Sales Manager is responsible for securing new corporate business and growing the existing relationships for our Edmonton region hotels; working with customers to align preferences with property features as well as upselling each business opportunity within the Corporate market segment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Has overall responsibility for securing complex group customer inquiries, lead requests, achieving revenue targets and booking goals for their market
- Drive customer loyalty through excellent customer service throughout the sales process
- Requires the ability to negotiate RFP’s for group business and annual account room rate negotiation
- Refer opportunities to appropriate sales associate if business is outside their parameters
- Selling meeting space as well as Catering to clients prior to passing on to the Event Manager
- Serve the customer by understanding their needs and recommending appropriate features and services that best meet their needs
- Establish clear expectations for customers and the properties throughout the sales process
- Transfer accurate, complete and timely information to the properties
- Ensuring business booked is within hotel parameters. Close the best opportunities for the properties based on market conditions and property needs
- Actively upsell each business opportunity to maximize revenues
- Build and strengthen relationships with new customers to enable future bookings
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Execute and support the operational aspects of business booked i.e.: generating proposals, writing contracts, customer correspondence
- Understand and actively utilize Nova marketing initiatives / incentives to close on business
- Effectively leverage the Corporate resources and support staff to achieve personal and team related revenue goals
- Effectively resolve guest issues that arise as a result of the sales process. Bringing these issues to the attention of the property and to the attention of the Corporate Director of Sales
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet business needs
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Requires above average selling skills, strong communication skills, as well as an understanding of property operations, food and beverage and planning
- Prior Sales Management experience
- Displays a positive attitude, maintains enthusiasm and celebrates success
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
- Ability to deliver and demonstrate consistent outstanding customer service
- Ability to establish and maintain strong and effective relationships with all key corporate disciplines and the internal team
- Fast paced and may require standing, walking or remaining on feet the entire day depending on business levels
- Effective problem solver who finds solutions that are beneficial to the guests, associates and the organization
- Flexible and energetic with the ability to work under pressure
- Intermittent business travel will be required.
