Banff Centre is looking for a creative Graphic Designer to join the Marketing and Communications team. The Marketing team is responsible to assist arts and leadership programs in recruiting quality applicants; to promote events that showcase our participants; to beautifully tell the stories of our participants, artists, and faculty; and for effectively positioning Banff Centre as a globally recognized centre for creativity.

The Graphic Designer is an essential member of the Marketing and Communications team, providing professional graphic art services including planning, design, layout, and production for a range of promotional and corporate communications materials, ensuring brand consistency.

Specific Accountabilities
Design and produce artwork for diverse Banff Centre projects including, but not limited to: advertisements, digital ads and html materials, brochures, corporate materials, posters, invitations, annual reports, proposals, stationery, performance programs, and signage
Design graphics for Banff Centre's website and various online social media platforms
Manage pre-press coordination by working directly with printing houses to prepare printer specifications, obtain quotes, schedule production, prepare print-ready files, conduct press checks, and coordinate printing
Establish and maintain project schedules and costs, and ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget
Provide advice to community partners and Banff Centre colleagues regarding Banff Centre's visual identity
Maintain current knowledge of developments within the computer graphics and design industry
Qualifications and Educational Requirements
Diploma or degree in graphic design is required.
2+ years of professional graphic design experience.
A thorough knowledge of design, design practices, promotion, packaging, and production.
Experience producing corporate publications including stationery and forms, educational program pieces, and marketing products.
Experience in designing material for the arts or other post-secondary institutions is an asset.

High technical proficiency with the below applications:
Macintosh OSX Operating System
Adobe Creative Suite applications including InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat and Photoshop.
Microsoft Office applications, and scanning hardware/software
Working knowledge of Adobe Animate and Adobe After Effects for the purpose of interactive and animated web content / digital advertising is an asset.
Collaborative team player who understands the value of building internal and external relationships.
Solid interpersonal communications, both written and verbal.
Reliable with the ability to work under broad direction.
Well organized and detail-focused with the ability to successfully manage multiple tasks and projects while remaining adaptable to changing priorities and tasks.
Proven ability to solve problems with creative solution
Special Requirements
Candidates offered a position with Banff Centre, in this capacity, will be required to obtain a criminal record check verifying a clear record prior to an extension of a final employment offer.

Employment Terms and Benefits
In accordance with CUPE 4318, this is a unionized, hourly support staff position, subject to a 500-hour probationary period.

This position pays between $18.35 per hour and $23.44 per hour, depending on experience, working up to 40 hours per week.
