Your Responsibilities
As part of the Maintenance Plant Engineering team, the Instrumentation Specialist will be responsible for instrumentation support and supporting the development and enhancement of industrial automation and control systems at the Bethune mine.

The successful candidate will:
  • Review controls and instrumentation engineering, drawings and documents in terms of feasibility, standards, codes, and K+S quality specifications
  • Design, specify, size, and select measurement and control devices
  • Design, issued for construction, detailed engineering packages, including instruments, wiring and installation details
  • Maintain and update design specifications and installation typical for instrumentation
  • Coordinate with the drafting supervision and technical engineers to maintain and modify in conjunction with K+S management of change procedures
  • Assist Maintenance and Reliability in the development of instrumentation maintenance procedures and plans
  • Evaluate new and existing technologies for their applicability to the Mine’s measurement and control needs
  • Guide lifecycle planning efforts for critical instrumentation and specialty analyzers
  • Ensure that KSPC is at all times in compliance with Safety, Health and Environmental regulatory and internal laws and policies
  • Support QA/QC department on technical issues relating to instrumentation
  • Support instrument maintenance personnel in troubleshooting technically complex instrumentation issues
  • Assist Controls Engineer during the project and operational phase
  • Support Reliability Specialist by assessing instrument reliability and its contribution to overall equipment and plant reliability
  • Support the Sustaining Capital Projects department in the development and execution of new capital projects

Qualifying requirements for this role:
  • Instrument Engineering Technology Diploma
  • Registered/eligible for registering with SASTT as an Applied Science Technologist
  • 10+ years of experience in with focus on instrument specification and designed supplemented by field and maintenance experience
  • Experience in heavy industry is preferred
  • Ability to read and comprehend technical instructions and documents as well as ability to write technical reports and procedure
  • Mitigates risks within work area
  • Demonstrates the ability to analyze and resolve work issues that arise
  • Self-motivated and team focused
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of Saskatchewan Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations
  • Ensures that employees follow and meet health, safety and security procedures
  • Experience in Process Control Systems, Programmable Logic Control and MS Office computer skills
  • Must be authorized to legally work in Canada.
  • Successful candidates must be eligible to travel outside of Canada as travel may be required
