LEAD TECHNICIAN, METROLOGY
Emergent BioSolutions is currently seeking a Lead Technician, Metrology. The successful candidate will have a Technical Diploma in Instrumentation and Control Engineering Technology or Instrumentation Engineering Technology, be an accredited Technician/Technologist and have 6+ years of related experience. Having experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System is required and having experience working in a regulated environment is considered highly beneficial. In addition, this individual will possess a strong work ethic and a commitment to excellence and innovation.
The Lead Technician, Metrology is responsible for the installation, modification, testing, troubleshooting repair, predictive and preventive maintenance, removal, and replacement of complex analytical equipment and instrumentation for production and laboratory equipment.
In addition, this role provides knowledge as a subject matter expert (SME) and prepares technical reports with recommendations for solutions to technical problems.

Performs complex instrument calibration and adjustments to specifications set through procedures and calibration requirements.
Diagnoses, services, calibrates, and repairs all production, non-production, and test equipment and perform predictive and preventative maintenance.
Provides expertise as a subject matter expert (SME) by understanding the implications of work and makes recommendations for solutions; supports CAPEX projects.
Supports deviation reviews, corrective action and preventative actions (CAPAs), and change controls, including root cause analysis and corrective actions for OOC events.
Determines methods and procedures on new work assignments.
Analyzes results and may develop test specifications and electrical schematics.
Proposes improvements to work processes, efficiency, and quality.
Specifies and requests purchase of components; maintains spare parts inventory.
Maintains all logs and required documentation.
Supports the maintenance of the overall calibration program.
Acts as a liaison with manufacturing and laboratory employees to increase life and reliability of instruments through continual improvement of testing procedures.
Assists in the development of procedures and aids troubleshooting instrumentation.
Provides technical training and support to others within the company.
Provides guidance and direction to junior staff.
Supports the training and assessment of others in the metrology department.
Leads prioritizes and schedules assigned corrective work orders and cycle driven calibrations along with decision making during the absence of the manager.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
Technical diploma in Instrumentation and Control Engineering Technology, Instrumentation Engineering Technology or equivalent is required.
Accredited Technician/Technologist from a Canadian Association such as the Certified Technicians and Technologists Association of Manitoba (CTTAM) is strongly preferred.
6+ years of related experience is required.
Experience working in a regulated environment is considered highly beneficial; knowledge or ability to learn pharmaceutical regulatory requirements is required (e.g. cGMPs, ICH guidance, Eudralex, etc.).
Previous experience in using a Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) is required; experience with SAP Plant Maintenance, DeltaV, and PLC systems is strongly preferred.
Knowledge of equipment, facilities, standards, techniques, policies, and processes.
Familiar with the concept of world class maintenance and best practices.
Strong understanding of Operational Excellence and Lean Manufacturing methodology.
Ability to read, understand, and follow standard operating procedures, protocols, work instructions, and other policies/procedures.
Strong verbal and written communication skills including technical writing.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Products such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Ability to adapt and perform shift work as required.
