Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Life Sciences Research Technician to support our laboratory's research and development efforts. The ideal candidate will assist in conducting experiments, collecting and analyzing data, and ensuring quality control of research processes. Responsibilities
- Assist in conducting biological, microbiological, and biochemical tests and laboratory analyses to support product quality control and production activities.
- Prepare samples of raw materials, in process materials, and finished products for routine laboratory testing in accordance with established procedures.
- Perform routine laboratory tests and measurements on raw materials, in process samples, and finished products, including biological, microbiological, biochemical, and basic physical testing where applicable.
- Apply approved laboratory techniques such as microscopy, chromatography, sample preparation, and other analytical methods under the direction of senior laboratory staff.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures, calibration requirements, and workplace safety guidelines.
- Record test results, maintain accurate laboratory data, and organize testing records and quality control documentation.
- Support research and development activities by preparing samples, collecting test data, and assisting with laboratory testing related to product formulation and product quality.
Skills and Education
- Strong understanding of quality control processes within a laboratory setting
- Proficiency in data collection methods and data management software
- Excellent analysis skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets
- Solid mathematical skills for analyzing experimental results and performing calculations
- Laboratory experience is preferred, including familiarity with standard lab equipment and safety protocols but not required
- Attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to follow detailed instructions accurately
- Effective communication skills for documenting findings and collaborating with team members
- Completion of a post-secondary diploma (1-2 years) in biology, microbiology, food science biotechnology, or a related field is required.
