As a Manager, Child and Youth Mental Health & Substance Use you will:
Be accountable for providing leadership in the planning, implementation, delivery and evaluation of Mental Health Services for designated age-based populations in Vancouver.
Ensure that the strategic objectives and operational plans for mental health services, as approved by the Director, Mental Health and Addictions and Regional Director, Mental Health & Addiction Program are carried out to provide efficient and effective delivery of health care services.
Provide the key leadership role in planning, implementation, delivery and evaluation of the various programs and services for designated age-based clients within the Vancouver region for the mental health portfolio.
Represent VCH at provincial and regional planning and implementation committees and work closely with VCH Infant Child & Youth Mental Health Managers and the Ministry of Children and Family Development.
Be responsible for managing contracts between MCFD and VCH for the delivery of Child and Youth Mental Health (CYMH) Services and Provincial Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services (PDHHS) for Mental Health and Addiction Services to children, youth and adults.

Education & Experience
Master’s Degree in a related discipline preferred.
Minimum of ten years experience in policy development, analysis, and management of clinical care delivery systems for the seriously mentally ill in hospital and/or community setting or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge & Abilities
Knowledge of the principles of recovery in mental illness.
Advanced knowledge of management administration principles and change management processes.
Knowledge of trends, developments, principles and practices related to mental health clinical practice and service delivery.
Knowledge of the broad determinants of health and the vision of VCH with strong commitment to health reform.
Knowledge of budget formulation and financial practices.
Knowledge of assessment and treatment methodologies and intervention strategies.
Demonstrated analytical, problem solving, planning, organizational, and negotiation skills.
Demonstrated interpersonal skills including ability to analyze complex relationship situations and develop and implement plans to resolve using facilitation, consensus building and leadership skills.
Demonstrated ability to work diplomatically and persuasively with multidisciplinary teams, government representatives, stakeholders, citizen groups, etc.
Demonstrated ability to implement client systems for continuity of care which are client focused.
Ability to provide visionary, creative and innovative approaches to care issues.
Ability to function in a fast-paced and changing environment.
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
