Position Summary
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer and based in Brampton, Ontario, Canada, the Sr Manager, Financial Controls, Risk and Governance role will lead the Internal Controls function for the Savaria group of companies globally and will be responsible for overall compliance with NI 52-109 in an international context. This role is critical in strengthening the overall control environment across the company and will work in close collaboration with the divisional financial controllers to ensure compliance with 52-109, internal policies and external regulations, while providing valuable insights to senior management.
Essential Duties and Requirements

Overall oversight and management of the Company's Internal Controls over Financial Reporting compliance efforts, including coordination with key stakeholders to ensure that relevant risks are identified and addressed with well-designed controls that are operating effectively

Perform annual planning of the Company's Internal Controls over Financial Reporting compliance efforts (e.g., risk assessment, materiality, scoping, due dates, etc.) to meet requirements of the Audit Committee, external audit partners.

Collaborate with regional finance teams to identify and assess financial risks, providing insights into potential control weaknesses

Coordinate and direct the work of external ICFR partner to ensure internal audit plan is executed to minimize overall risk to the organization

Work closely with internal stakeholders (e.g., divisional controllers and other finance staff) to help them develop remediation plans for identified control deficiencies, monitoring progress and verifying remediation effectiveness

Develop and execute plan to build out in-house internal control function and less reliance on third party co-sourced model

Perform some testing of internal controls over financial reporting in high-risk areas as directed by CFO or Audit Committee to assess their design and operational effectiveness in accordance with the requirements outlined in Section 52-109 of the CSA regulations, ensuring alignment with industry standards and best practices

Prepare clear and concise reports summarizing the results of internal control testing, including any identified issues, and present findings to CFO, Audit Committee and other key stakeholders

Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation of internal control testing procedures, findings, and recommendations for improvement, as well as documentation of the controls themselves (flowcharts, control matrices, etc.)

Stay abreast of changes in regulatory requirements related to internal controls and financial reporting, ensuring the organization's practices remain in compliance

Proactively identify and monitor process and system changes that result from our growth in transaction volume, international expansion, automation of processes, software application changes, accounting integration in connection with acquisitions and other areas of change that have a direct impact the Company's financial statements and related disclosures
Mindset, Skills & Education

A minimum of 5-8 years of successful and progressive experience in an Internal Controls department focused on 52-109 compliance for a Canadian based public company

Deep understanding and expertise of the COSO framework

Proven experience directing and implementing change initiatives focused on improving internal controls

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required. Master’s degree a plus

CPA, CA designation

Public accounting firm experience

Familiarity with Internal Audit standards and necessary processes to ensure compliance a plus

Internal audit certifications are desirable (i.e., CIA, CISA, CFE, etc.)
