Located in the heart of Toronto’s Financial District, our head office is easily accessible by TTC and GO Transit, and within walking distance to the Eaton Centre, Air Canada Centre, Rogers Centre, and CN Tower. Position Summary

The Analyst, Data Governance is responsible for establishing and ensuring adherence to an enterprise data governance framework for data policies, standards and practices, both at the department and Business and Functional areas level, to achieve the required level of consistency and quality to meet overall business needs.

What you will be doing:
Work with business subject matter experts and IT developers to gather business requirements for data definitions, and reference data.
Assist in the development, testing, and implementation of the associated data documentation, analysis, reporting, and process improvements
Assist in the roll out an enterprise wide data governance framework, with a focus on improvement of data quality and the protection of sensitive data through modifications to organization behavior policies and standards, principles, governance metrics, processes, related tools and data architecture
Make sure regulatory data is accurate and work with data stewards to correct existing data.
Work with other project streams to make sure data governance is adhered when rolling out projects
Work with data stewards to correct existing data

What we are looking for:
Post secondary education in Statistics, Business or related field of study – degree preferred
Bachelor Degree in a field related to data management strongly preferred
Accounting experience a strong asset
Minimum of 3 - 5 years in Data Analysis
Experience in the property and casualty insurance industry required
Experience in Data Governance is a strong asset
Familiarity with/experience within the P&C insurance industry and regulatory reports preferred (IBC and GAA)
Strong working knowledge of business operations, operational procedures, workflow and processing functions
Basic to Intermediate proficiency in SAS, Dbase
Basic to Intermediate proficiency/experience with SQL Server along with Data Profiling Skills
Advanced proficiency with Excel; Intermediate proficiency with Word and PowerPoint
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships at all levels
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
Strong collaborative skills and an ability to build consensus
Team player, customer focused, adaptable/flexible
