At Anansi Content, what gets us up in the morning is using the power of marketing to build strong communities.
We do this by freeing digital agencies from poorly organized, low-impact copywriting with our unbelievable team of content strategists, so we can help their clients use words to build connection with those they can truly help—and harness the power of marketing for the greater good.
But since our existing team of copywriting experts is reaching capacity, we’re looking to bring a new content strategist onboard. That’s where you come in. You’ll be leading clients through projects from beginning to end, putting together brand stories, strategies, sitemaps, and funnels, and doing lots of writing. Mostly conversion website copy, email copy, and landing pages… But probably some other random stuff here and there too.
You’re an experienced conversion copywriter who naturally takes charge. As an overachiever by nature, you know to manage your time carefully because otherwise you can get carried away with any one thing. You’ve learned the hard way to set clear boundaries and enforce them gently... but firmly. While you always help the client feel heard and understood, you’re also not afraid to say “no” when they’re pushing scope or acting against your expertise.
Simplifying complicated concepts into simple terms is right up your alley. Clients don’t intimidate you, because you know as long as you’ve got our clear process and can be the guide rails for your client, the project will probably go smoothly. More than that, you know that with your process and your writing you have the power to change lives—and that thought has you going “Squee!” on the inside all on its own.
If you’re the right person for this role, you’ll have:
- Proven experience in conversion copywriting and content strategy. Bonus points for experience funnel building, social media marketing, and/or digital marketing (ideally across a variety of industries)
- A great sense of humor and the tendency to think on your feet and take action quickly
- Persistence, and strong skills as a communicator, writer, video presence, connector, and negotiator
- A strategic planner’s brain, constantly working to achieve better success by improving the systems supporting you
- A data-driven mindset where you care a lot about the numbers because the patterns there help you continuously improve ROI
- The tendency to always think ahead, anticipate problems before they occur, ask questions when needed, and not be afraid to bring up potential issues right away
- Excellent self-motivation and time-management skills, which make juggling people, priorities, projects, and partners look like a piece of cake
- A calm, quiet space and consistently great internet speed to make, and receive video calls
This is a pretty high-level breakdown, which should give you pretty good insight into the job and who we’re looking for. But before we get into the specifics, you need to know whether you’d even like working with us.
Who the heck are we, anyway?
At Anansi Content, our mission is to use the power of marketing to build strong communities. We do this by helping small businesses and nonprofits connect to the people that desperately need them. Simply put, we’re a small team of strategists and writers, and we help digital agencies take website and marketing writing for clients off their own plate, stress-free.
We’re kind of like Alfred to each partner’s Batman—we help our digital agency partners be the superhero for their clients, while we’re insanely organized behind the scenes.
(But we’re his sassy and nurturing side.)
Usually our agency partners are deeply frustrated with copywriting on their web projects, whether it’s struggling to get it from clients on time, chasing down AWOL copywriters, or having to write it themselves. We swoop in and save them with a well-oiled process and a crazy organized team.
Now let’s dig in a little deeper.
We primarily do “white label” work, or anonymous subcontracting, for US & Canada digital agencies. This means we deliver content strategy, copywriting, and marketing consulting to their clients. Usually we work under the agency’s name. We’re known for going deep rather than wide—the designated strategist leads each project from beginning to end, directs the client through the process, puts together the strategy and does all the writing, and coordinates with the agency partner.
This means we write words that inspire people to ACTION. We’re always thinking with a strategic lens. So we need you to be a critical thinker, actively seeking to improve your craft and create real measurable results. And we need you to deeply believe in the power of amazing communication to change lives.
