Position Summary:
Master Edge Homes is seeking a professional, personable, and results-driven Design Sales Consultant to guide homeowners through the early stages of their renovation journey. As the first point of contact for many prospective clients, you will build trust, understand their goals, and help them navigate our design-build process with confidence.
In this role, you will generate and qualify leads, conduct consultations, develop lasting client relationships, and collaborate closely with our design and construction teams to ensure each client's vision, expectations, and project goals are clearly understood. From the initial inquiry through project completion, you will play an integral role in delivering an exceptional client experience while helping grow the business through referrals, repeat clients, and new opportunities.
The Design Sales Consultant represents Master Edge Homes with integrity, professionalism, and a client-first mindset, fostering meaningful relationships and ensuring every prospective client feels heard, valued, well-informed, and confident throughout the decision-making process. The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator with a consultative sales approach, strong relationship-building skills, and a passion for helping homeowners bring their renovation visions to life. Experience in residential renovations, design-build construction, or a related industry is considered a strong asset.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Development & Networking:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with referral partners—including Realtors, Interior Designers, Architects, Mortgage Brokers, Financial Advisors, Home Inspectors, Trade Partners, and past clients—to generate new business, referrals, and repeat opportunities.
- Build awareness of Master Edge Homes within target markets through networking, community involvement, industry events, and home shows.
- Represent Master Edge Homes professionally at networking events and business development opportunities.
- Nurture long-term relationships with referral partners and past clients to encourage repeat business, referrals, and testimonials.
Lead Management & Client Qualification:
- Respond promptly and professionally to new inquiries from digital marketing campaigns, social media, the company website, Houzz, referrals, and other lead sources.
- Qualify prospective clients by assessing project scope, budget, timeline, decision-making readiness, and overall fit with the Master Edge Homes design-build process.
- Conduct discovery calls and in-home consultations to understand each client's goals, vision, and project requirements.
- Educate homeowners on the design-build process, project planning requirements, timelines, and next steps.
- Gather accurate project information to support a seamless transition into the design phase.
Sales Process & Client Experience:
- Guide homeowners through the sales and pre-design process from initial inquiry to signed design agreement using a consultative, relationship-based sales approach.
- Build trust by educating clients, answering questions, addressing concerns, and helping them make informed decisions.
- Clearly communicate the value of Master Edge Homes, including our design-build process, craftsmanship, and commitment to an exceptional client experience.
- Present project recommendations, design agreements, and proposals while confidently guiding clients through the decision-making process.
- Identify potential project challenges early and collaborate with the internal team to develop appropriate solutions.
- Maintain a high level of client care from first contact through project completion and post-project follow-up.
- Achieve individual sales and conversion goals while delivering an outstanding client experience.
CRM, Reporting & Internal Collaboration:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date client, lead, referral, and opportunity information within the CRM system.
- Track lead activity, follow-up schedules, sales stages, notes, and next steps to ensure timely communication.
- Collaborate with the design, estimating, project management, and construction teams to ensure client expectations and project details are communicated effectively.
- Participate in internal meetings regarding prospective clients, active opportunities, and client experience improvements.
- Provide leadership with feedback on lead quality, market trends, client objections, referral sources, and business development opportunities.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Diploma or degree in Interior Design preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in sales, business development, client relationship management, or a related consultative, customer-facing role.
- Proven ability to build strong client relationships and generate new business through networking, referrals, and relationship management.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with strong follow-up and active listening abilities.
- Experience qualifying leads and guiding clients through a consultative sales process from initial inquiry to signed agreement.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple client opportunities simultaneously.
- Experience using CRM software to manage leads, sales activities, and client communications (experience with HubSpot, Monday.com, or similar platforms is an asset).
- Professional presentation with a customer-first mindset and a high level of integrity.
- Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation for client consultations, meetings, networking events, and site visits.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in residential renovations, design-build construction, custom homes, interior design, architecture, real estate, or a related industry.
- Existing relationships with Realtors, Interior Designers, Architects, Mortgage Brokers, or other industry referral partners are considered an asset.
- Experience selling high-value services or projects with longer sales cycles.
- Familiarity with the design-build process and residential renovation projects.
- Experience representing a company at networking events, trade shows, or community business events.
