Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Welding Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for welding projects within the construction industry. This role requires strong project management skills, proficiency with industry-specific software, and excellent negotiation abilities. The Welding Estimator will collaborate closely with clients, vendors, and internal teams to ensure project success from initial bid to completion. Candidates with a background in construction estimating, pricing strategies, and familiarity with tools like Bluebeam and HeavyBid will thrive in this position.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed welding cost estimates by analyzing project plans, specifications, and drawings.
- Utilize software such as Bluebeam and HeavyBid to develop accurate bids and proposals.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to understand project scope and requirements.
- Conduct market research to determine labor, material, equipment costs, and subcontractor pricing.
- Negotiate with vendors and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing while maintaining quality standards.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely submission of bids within deadlines.
- Review project documents for potential risks or discrepancies that could impact costs or schedules.
- Assist in developing project budgets and track costs throughout the project lifecycle.
- Continuously update knowledge of industry trends, materials, and new estimating techniques.
Requirements
- Proven experience in construction estimating, preferably within welding or heavy industrial projects.
- Proficiency with Bluebeam, HeavyBid, and other construction estimating or project management software.
- Strong negotiation skills to secure favorable pricing without compromising quality.
- Excellent understanding of construction processes, materials, and safety standards related to welding projects.
- Ability to interpret complex technical drawings and specifications accurately.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously under tight deadlines.
