Job Purpose
The Quality Assurance Coordinator supports the Quality Assurance Manager by maintaining and improving the Quality Management System (QMS), assisting with quality inspections, and ensuring compliance with customer, regulatory, and certification requirements. This role plays a key part in document control, non-conformance management, audits, and cross‑department communication to improve quality efficiency and reduce production delays.
Duties and Responsibilities
Quality Management System (QMS) Support
- Assist with maintaining, updating, and improving the Quality Management System (AS9100).
- Verify quality documentation prior to shipment of parts.
- Review and interpret internal forms, customer quality forms, and customer-specific requirements.
- Ensure quality records are accurate, complete, and maintained to a high standard.
Inspections & Quality Improvement
- Support quality inspections and identify opportunities to improve inspection efficiency and turnaround time.
- Assist with implementing programs, equipment, or process improvements (e.g., gauges, fixtures, contractor support) to improve quality throughput.
- Help identify bottlenecks contributing to parts remaining in QA longer than planned.
- Prepare for future quality requirements related to customer delegation stamping and other customer needs.
Non‑Conformance & Corrective Action
- Assist with routing, tracking, and managing non‑conformance reports (NCRs) and corrective actions.
- Coordinate Dispositions of NCRs and ensure clear communication between departments (e.g., Engineering, Production, Purchasing).
- Support root cause analysis and follow-up activities to prevent recurrence.
Audits & Compliance
- Support internal, customer, and third-party audits.
- Assist with Controlled Goods compliance, including semi‑annual requirements and documentation.
- Support CMMC compliance by assisting with:
- Development and maintenance of policies and procedures
- Documentation control
- Training coordination and recordkeeping
Cross‑Departmental Support
- Work with the Anodizing department to transition work orders from outside processing to in‑house processing.
- Communicate with other departments to ensure quality requirements are clearly understood and met.
Qualifications
Required
- Experience working within an AS9100-certified manufacturing environment
- Practical knowledge and/or experience of ISO 9001 and AS9100 standards.
- Strong understanding of quality systems and manufacturing workflows
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to read, understand, and manage quality documentation and forms
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred
- Experience with non‑conformance management and corrective actions
Familiarity with:
- Customer quality forms and requirements
- Controlled Goods Program (Canada)
- CMMC or similar cybersecurity compliance frameworks
- Experience supporting audits (internal or external)
- Manufacturing or aerospace/defense industry experience
Working conditions
- This role is primarily based in an office with regular exposure to the manufacturing floor, including noise, machinery, and safety protocols specific to defense & aerospace environments.
- May require access to controlled goods and compliance with security requirements
