M-Link is looking for a candidate that can ensure our financial and business operations are efficient and will scale to meet our ambitious growth plans.

The Position:

The Controller will report to the Chief Financial Officer and have responsibility to evaluate, implement and streamline operational processes and controls. This role will also have responsibility for the accounting and reporting of multiple legal entities, including the preparation of monthly financial and operational reports, maintenance of payroll and the coordination and reporting to securities regulators.

The Candidate:

We are looking for an individual who is well organized, proactive, energetic and detail oriented. The ideal candidate will be able to meet all deadlines and efficiently and effectively run daily financial operations. Other attributes required of the role include:

  • Proficiency with general ledger software
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with other Microsoft Office Applications
  • Full and clear understanding of financial accounting
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal and communication skills

Tasks and Responsibilities:

The Controller role will be mainly comprised of the following functions:

  • Maintaining QuickBooks accounting for multiple legal entities
  • Preparation of monthly financial and operational reports for management and external investors
  • Daily cash management activities including the oversight of bank accounts, receivables, payables and expense reimbursement
  • Manage salary and commission payrolls for multiple entities
  • Preparation and filing of public securities documents and information on SEDAR for all provinces
  • Preparation of annual certificates for other regulators including FSCO, FICOM, and the MFDA
  • Preparation of year-end reports for external auditors
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets
  • Subject matter expert on IFRS matters, researching new standards and assessing impacts to the organization

Compensation:

Compensation will be a base Salary and Bonus

Education & Skills:

  • University education in accounting or finance
  • CPA designation required
  • Minimum 5 years of accounting experience
  • Excellent computer skills and outstanding proficiency with Quickbooks and Excel
  • Salesforce knowledge is an asset but not required
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail
  • Exceptional communication and strengths in innovation, energy, and task management.
