Trillium Health Partners is looking for an innovative, knowledgeable, collaborative and client-orientated librarian to cover a maternity leave. Reporting to the Senior Librarian, the librarian will be responsible for delivering information services and supporting evidence-based practice in patient care, research and professional staff/learners education through literature search support, general reference, website maintenance and instruction. They will collaborate with the library team in the development of services and resources in the areas of instruction, promotion and outreach supporting the advancement of the library services program at THP.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Located at the Credit Valley and Mississauga Hospital sites, the librarian will work across all locations of Trillium Health Partners remotely and onsite as needed to fulfill a range of key responsibilities including:
Promote and deliver expert literature searches in clinical and non-clinical subject areas
Provide general and specialized information, reference and research assistance
Develop and deliver group and one-on-one instruction on a variety of topics including research skills and MSOffice applications
Maintain virtual library website and troubleshoot electronic resources
Take a pro-active approach to identifying clinical, academic and research information needs and opportunities at THP
Promote library services, collections and resources to client groups
Participate in core library services, including but not limited to circulation, cataloguing, staff orientation, marketing, promotion and special projects
Collaborate with other members of the entire team to explore, create and examine new library technologies and service delivery models
Knowledge & Experience
ALA-accredited Master’s degree in library/information sciences
Proven library experience, preferably in a health sciences, academic or special library environment
Experience with evidence-based information retrieval and in-depth literature searching in biomedical research databases
Demonstrated ability to work well in both team-based and self-directed environments and a commitment to developing responsive and enduring relationships with users and colleagues
Strong service philosophy and a commitment to effective user experiences
Proven aptitude for creative approaches to promotion and service initiatives
Experience in marketing services, resources and collections to library clients
Experience in developing and delivering customized group and individual instruction sessions on database search skills and MS Office applications
Experience with the delivery of eLearning via Zoom an asset
Experience developing and maintaining webpages using LibGuides CMS
Knowledge of Springshare tools such as LibInsights and LibWizard an asset.
Proficient in Excel and other MSOffice applications, library and web technologies, library discovery systems, the internet etc.
Experience with online reference and chat an asset.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, oral and written communication skills.
Advanced time management and organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines.
Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and improvement of professional knowledge and skills.
Self-motivated, detail oriented and entrepreneurial with the capacity to approach tasks and problems with a sense of ownership, enthusiasm and initiative.
Participate and maintain active membership in appropriate health library organizations.
