Overview
We are seeking a friendly and customer-focused Sales Associate/Cashier to join our vibrant pet store team. This role involves providing exceptional service to our customers, assisting with product selection, and managing the checkout process. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, a passion for animals, and the ability to create a welcoming shopping environment. Bilingual abilities and experience in retail sales or merchandising are a plus. Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and assist them in finding products suited to their needs
- Operate the POS system accurately for transactions, including cash handling and credit card processing
- Perform product demos and educate customers on pet supplies, accessories, and related items
- Upsell complementary products to enhance customer satisfaction and sales volume
- Maintain organized merchandise displays and ensure shelves are stocked appropriately
- Handle customer inquiries both in person and via phone with professionalism and courtesy
- Manage cashier duties efficiently, including processing returns and exchanges
- Ensure cleanliness of the checkout area and overall store presentation
- Assist with inventory management, including stock replenishment and merchandising updates
Requirements
- Must love pets!
- Able to life 40lb+
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong customer service orientation with a friendly, approachable demeanor
- Basic math skills for cash handling and POS transactions
- Experience with retail sales, merchandising, or cashiering preferred
- Familiarity with POS systems and technology sales tools
- Ability to perform product demonstrations effectively
- Organizational skills to manage time efficiently during busy periods
- Phone etiquette for handling inquiries professionally over the phone
- Upselling techniques to promote additional products and increase sales volume
- Multilingual skills to serve a diverse customer base effectively
- Knowledge of pet products or experience in technical sales related to pet care is a plus
Pay: From $17.60 per hour
