Are you an organized, detail-oriented professional with a passion for the law? We’re looking for a dedicated Legal Assistant to support our Property Law Team and Legal Director’s Team and help us maintain our standard of excellence.
What You’ll Do:

Organize and Maintain Legal Files: Keep a high volume of legal documents in order, ensuring easy access and retrieval.

Manage Filing Systems: Develop and maintain efficient filing systems and a law reference library, responding to information requests via email and phone.

File Activity Coordination: Independently monitor file activities, screen correspondence, and prepare draft responses to ensure timely communication.

Calendar Management: Schedule meetings and maintain the calendars of our solicitors, optimizing their time and workflow.

Build Relationships: Foster collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate smooth information flow.

Docket Keeping: Operate a docket system, prepare journal entries, and manage internal charge-backs effectively.

High-Quality Documentation: Transcribe dictation, draft correspondence, reports, by-laws, memos, and conduct title searches using Teraview for real estate transactions.

Purchasing Coordination: Oversee purchasing and document execution procedures, preparing purchase orders and related documentation.

What the role requires (Legal Director’s Team):

Post-secondary education in legal office administration
- Minimum of five years relevant real estate experience in a law office

General legal experience, in either of the following areas: real estate processes, municipal law and documentation

Combination of education and experience may be considered
What the role requires (Property Law Team):

Post-secondary education in legal office administration
- Minimum of five years relevant real estate experience in a law office

Familiarity with real estate processes and municipal law and documentation

Alternate or combination of education and experience may be considered
Skills/Abilities:

Proficient dictation and word processing skills, combined with a keen sense of accuracy and attention to detail

Strong computer skills, utilizing MS Office to be able to deal with multiple tasks and priorities

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Work Mode & Job Location: In this role, you'll enjoy the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement. This means you'll have the ability to work off-site and on-site as needed, depending on operational needs at the 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton worksite. The frequency of on-site work may vary from week to week, depending on operational demands, which can evolve over time.
It's important to note that your off-site work location must be within the province of Ontario. This ensures that we're compliant with all regulations and policies.
