Why this role is important?
This position reports to Senior Manager, Finance, Retail Inventory & Cash Analytics and is responsible for efficient and effective linkage between Store and Retail Services in developing, executing and communicating financial related reports and processes.
This Role will be primarily responsible to lead a team that focuses generating insights for the business that will help build understanding about the inventory and cash performance at stores level. You will work with the Senior management team to influence changes in inventory and cash processes that can improve inventory and cash loss. Finally, as a successful candidate you will be in a position to monitor the integrity of transactions through the inventory and cash accounts and escalate any issues that require resolution by other stakeholders.
Second level review of all inventory count reconciliations to perform quality checks and assess reasonableness of store results prior to distribution of templates to the Associates, other store staff and Field Resources. Manage the Inventory Schedule to assign the proper resources (Analysts) to prepare the reconciliations and distribute to the Associates and post the results in a timely manner. Conduct reviews with the team on a regular basis to identify drivers affecting inventory shrink performance. Assess whether drivers are caused by system, process or store training issues and whether the issues can be correct in order to minimize noise in the future. Maintain a log of historic inventory issues by store that can be easily leveraged at time of count or at any time inventory performance is reviewed. Manage the store allocation of cash reconciliation reviews to the Analysts for both initial and subsequent reviews throughout the period. Complete 1st level validation and review of a set of cash reconciliations similar to the other Analysts Maintain a log of recurring store issues to be escalated to the SSS for resolution Continuously monitor balance of workload between inventory and cash reconciliations amongst the 4 analysts Review and approve journal entries up to a maximum threshold Conduct regular meetings and reviews with the Analysts around implementing or asking for suggestions on improvements to the cash reconciliation and inventory process Work with the Senior Manager on solutions to improve cash and inventory reconciliation processes at Central Office or at store level Provide insight to management team highlighting issues/trends and escalate any high risk operating deficiencies associated to cash and inventory reconciliations in a timely manner Support projects to improve business processes and outcomes Provide support and maintain strong relationships with stores and other internal business partners Prepare weekly, periodic & quarterly reports, variance analysis on inventory and cash financial performance.
Skills, Experience & Education
This position requires a demonstrated level of initiative and judgment in order to organize and prioritize tasks, workload and projects and work well with others.
Minimum 3-5 years finance, accounting, business or equivalent experience is an asset.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Commerce and/or Finance: in the process of completing CPA qualification.
Advanced Computer skills in Microsoft Office applications in order to analyze large amounts of data to produce effective reports, documents and spreadsheets (Advanced Macro skills is an asset).
Ability to work with staff to meet tight deadlines.
Ability to manage, manipulate and analyze data to identify and quantify business opportunities.
Proven Time Management skills: ability to plan, set and assign work priorities to meet and/or exceed performance goals.
Must possess strong analytical skills with the ability to think outside the box.
Professional manner, tact, diplomacy and discretion in dealing with colleagues including senior managements.
Communicates with clarity, verbally and in one on one or group situations, or over the telephone.
Communicates well in writing by composing clear documents; facility with editing and/or proof-reading is required.
Business acumen - knowledge of accounting guidelines, principles and procedures.
